What Varra can do today

Every capability in one of four groups: available today, limited, built in the engine but not in the product, or planned. Each links to the dated record on Build status.

Availability

Available today

In the deployed product, for every account.

Conversation and reasoning

Live

Writing, research, analysis, coding, planning and ordinary questions, with real-time streaming and a selectable effort level. Build status →

Documents and images

Live

Hand Varra a PDF or an image and it reasons over it: extracting figures, comparing versions, naming what is missing. Build status →

Web search

Live

Used when a question depends on current information rather than on every query. Build status →

Working memory, within a session

Live

The model keeps its own notes across a session. Memory across conversations is planned. Build status →

Sixteen work modes

Live

You choose them yourself, each replacing the working context for a conversation. The modes. Build status →

Work Items

Live

Created, tracked and closed by hand. Nothing creates one automatically, and resolved never means verified, approved or executed. Build status →

Outcome records

Live

An outcome can be appended to a Work Item and read back as history. Nothing consumes it. Build status →

Account reference values

Live

Any signed-in account can store figures it has checked, per mode, in the “Your reference data” panel, up to 500 entries. They take precedence over the built-in tables, and an answer that used one is stamped as coming from the account. Narrow in scope: an entry applies only when a question turns on a value it matches, and it is not a company workspace. Build status →

Limited or account-restricted

In the product, but narrow in coverage or open only to some accounts.

Checked reference values

Limited

Where a verified table covers the figure an answer turns on, the table’s entry replaces what the model wrote. Three of the sixteen modes carry such a table. Build status →

Gmail sending

Limited

Eligible accounts only. Prepare a plain-text email from a Work Item, approve it, and Varra makes one attempt to send it through your Gmail connection, one email per approval. Not generally available. Build status →

Built in the engine, not in the product

Implemented and tested in the engine. None of these is available in the current Varra product interface.

Routing

Foundation

Decides what a task requires. The source default is off, and current production configuration is not asserted here. Build status →

Skill packs

Foundation

Eight Skill descriptors are registered for the router to select. Three are approved for application when Router mode is active. Build status →

Web fetch

Foundation

Reads a specific page. Web search, which finds pages, is available. Build status →

Advisor

Foundation

A stronger model the main model may consult on hard questions, by default Anthropic’s Claude Opus 5. Not a check run on every answer. Build status →

Code execution

Foundation

The model provider’s code-execution tool is wired into the engine. Build status →

Agent runs, record-only runtime and exact-action approvals

Foundation

Reachable only through the engine’s API, apart from approving an email for Gmail sending above. Build status →

In development or planned

Not built, or not yet a product.

Company context

Planned

Your policies, vendors, systems and approval rules, held for your company’s work. Only account reference values exist today. Build status →

Memory across conversations

Planned

Memory today lasts one session. Build status →

Business systems other than Gmail

Planned

Storage, project management, accounting and reading email are directions, not integrations. Build status →

Learning from outcomes

Planned

No outcome feedback loop exists, and no model is trained or fine-tuned on customer conversations. Build status →

Work modes and Skill packs

Varra is a general-purpose assistant first. Modes and Skill packs focus it on a kind of work; they do not define what it is for. How they operate is on How Varra works.

Conversation and work modes

Every conversation starts in General, which covers research, writing, analysis, planning and ordinary questions. Sixteen modes in all are Live and chosen by hand: General, Software, and fourteen narrower modes listed below. A mode changes the instructions Varra works under and, in three of them, the checked reference values it defers to.

Business and operations Skill packs

A Skill pack is a set of instructions for one kind of business task. None is switched on in the product today; the labels say how far each has got.

  • Foundation Construction invoice audit. Invoices, pay applications, change orders and billing discrepancies. Approved for application when Router mode is active.
  • Foundation Document evidence analysis, financial analysis, investment research, operational exception analysis and operational financial impact. Registered in the engine, not approved for application.
  • Planned Compliance and workflow analysis. Intended, not built. Workflow analysis depends on the company context layer.

Technical and trade modes

Cooking, Fitness and twelve technical modes (Electrical, HVAC, Carpentry, Plumbing, Welding, Masonry & Concrete, Roofing, Drywall & Paint, Landscaping, Small Engine, Appliance Repair and Automotive) are reference examples of how a mode can defer to checked values, not a statement of what Varra is for. Electrical troubleshooting and HVAC diagnostics have Skill packs approved for Router mode, and Electrical and Carpentry are two of the three modes with a checked reference table.

What Varra does not do yet

  • Varra does not act in your business systems, with one narrow exception. For eligible accounts, it can send an approved plain-text email, one per approval, through a Gmail connection you authorize. It connects to no other business system, and the other execution foundations in the engine are not available in Varra.
  • Nothing runs unattended. Varra works on what you hand it in a conversation. It does not watch a mailbox or start work on its own.
  • Most answers are not independently verified. Three of sixteen modes carry a verified table; everything else is the model’s own reasoning.
  • You choose the mode. The router’s source default is off, and even in active mode it may apply only three approved Skills.
  • There is no company workspace. Apart from account reference values, Varra does not hold your policies, vendors or approval rules.
  • Memory lasts one session. Memory across conversations is planned.
