Engineering intelligence for machines that operate in the physical world.

Syntur Technologies is an emerging engineering initiative focused on aerospace and uncrewed aircraft systems, autonomous and intelligent machines, and defense-oriented technology research. It is at an early stage: design, engineering exploration and research.

Early-stage research

Engineering mission

Autonomy in the physical world has to be engineered to be reliable, not assumed to be.

Syntur develops intelligence that enables software, machines and systems to perform meaningful work reliably. Syntur Technologies applies that to machines that fly, move and sense in physical environments, where an error has consequences that cannot be undone by a retry.

The work follows the engineering philosophy shared across Syntur: systems designed to be verified, autonomy bounded by explicit limits, and people deciding where the decision is theirs. It is one of Syntur’s current areas of work, and it is early.

Areas of work

Five directions, all at the stage of design and research.

Aerospace engineering

How should an aircraft be designed for autonomy from the start?

Early-stage aircraft design and engineering exploration. The designs themselves are not published.

Uncrewed aircraft systems

What does a dependable uncrewed aircraft system need?

UAS development direction: the aircraft and the systems that operate it. No manufactured, flight-tested or released aircraft is claimed.

Autonomous systems

How can a machine act on its own and stay within its limits?

Research into autonomous and intelligent machines, and into making autonomous systems reliable in physical environments.

Defense-oriented technology research

Which problems in autonomy matter most where reliability is critical?

Exploratory research into technology with defense applications, conducted as research. No defense product, contract or deployment is claimed.

Digital engineering and simulation

What can be learned before anything is built?

Digital design and simulation as the first place a design is tested, so that analysis comes before hardware.

How the work is approached

  • Simulation and analysis before hardware.
  • Verification designed in, not added at the end.
  • Autonomy within explicit limits, under human oversight.
  • Nothing described as built until it is.

Development status

Stated plainly, because ambition and accomplishment are easy to confuse in this field.

  • StageEarly-stage engineering and research.
  • AircraftEarly-stage design and engineering exploration. No aircraft is claimed as manufactured, flight-tested, commercially released or deployed.
  • Products and customersNo Syntur Technologies product is offered on this site, and no customers, contracts, certifications or approvals are claimed.
  • What is not publishedProgram details, designs, engineering files and technical specifications are kept private.
