Where business automation applies, and what works today.

The areas of business work Syntur’s systems are being built for, each line marked with what exists for it today, and what a business can do with Varra now. The limits that apply to all of it are stated once, in the current boundary on the Business Automation page.

Where it applies

Each line below is marked with what exists for it today. Live is in Varra now. Partly live means part of the line is in Varra now, and the line says which part. Limited means available only in a narrow form or to eligible accounts, and not generally available. Foundation means built in the engine and not available in the product. Planned means not built.

Operations

The documents a business’s work produces, and the record of what was done about them.

  • Partly liveInvoices. Varra reads amounts, dates, line items, vendor and terms from an invoice you hand it, and can compare it with a quote or a purchase order you also supply. Checking against your own records needs the company layer.
  • Partly liveChange orders. Varra can compare a change against the documents it modifies and say what support is missing. Preparing the change-order package itself is planned.
  • Partly liveBusiness records. Work Items give a piece of work a durable record, created and closed by hand in Varra. Writing into your own system of record is planned.

Finance

Figures, statements and the systems they eventually have to agree with.

  • Partly liveFinancial operations. Analysis of statements and figures you supply is live as reasoning. The Financial Analysis Skill descriptor is registered but not approved for application.
  • PlannedSystem-of-record coordination. Reading from and preparing entries for accounting, project and ERP systems. No such system is connected.

Research and knowledge work

Reading, comparing and answering where the answer depends on documents or current information.

  • LiveResearch. Reasoning over documents and the web where a question depends on current information.
  • LiveDocument handling. Extraction, comparison and naming what is missing, across PDFs and images you provide.

Administration

Decisions that belong to a person, and the narrow path by which approved work leaves Syntur’s systems.

  • LimitedApprovals. An owner can approve or reject one exact, immutable proposed action. In Varra, eligible accounts do this for an email before it is sent; otherwise it exists in the engine’s API with no product interface. Team roles and approval rules are future.
  • LimitedEmail. Relay can send one approved plain-text email through a Gmail connection the owner authorized. This is available in Varra to eligible accounts and is not generally available. Reading a mailbox is not built.
  • LimitedControlled execution. Runs, checks, approvals and one narrow Relay path exist as foundations. For eligible accounts, Varra uses them for one thing: sending an approved plain-text email through Gmail. Nothing executes on its own.

Agents and workflows

Accountable automation, one stage at a time.

Intelligent agents and workflow automation

The direction is for an agent to carry a business objective from the first document to the record of what was done, with a person deciding wherever the decision is theirs. Today that is true of the first stages only. Nothing runs unattended, and no workflow is automated end to end.

  • LiveWork from an objective. In a conversation, Varra takes what you want done and reads, compares, drafts and tracks the work you hand it.
  • LimitedOne approved action. Eligible accounts can approve a plain-text email and have Varra send it through Gmail. It is the only action that leaves Syntur’s systems.
  • FoundationRuns, checks and approvals. Durable runs, deterministic checks and approval of one exact proposed action are built in the engine, not in the product.
  • PlannedWorkflows across stages and systems. Checking work against company records and policies, putting each decision to the right person, carrying it out in connected systems and recording the outcome.

How the stages fit together is on the Business Automation page; how runs and approvals work in the engine is under Agent runs and runtime.

What works today

In a browser, free:

  • LivePull the useful parts out of a document. Hand it a contract, estimate, statement or spec and get the dates, scope, figures and line items back.
  • LiveCompare documents and find what does not match. Two versions, a quote against an invoice, a submittal against a spec — where they disagree, and what support is missing.
  • LiveTrack a piece of work. Create a Work Item, move it between open, blocked, resolved and cancelled, and record an outcome. By hand; nothing creates one for you.
  • LiveGive Varra your company’s own checked values. A “Your reference data” panel in the account menu takes figures you have verified. Yours beat the built-in table, which beats whatever the model remembered, and an answer that used yours is stamped as coming from your account.
  • Partly liveReview a business document for issues. Amounts, parties and line items are extracted today; checking them against a contract, PO or budget needs the company layer.

Before you rely on any of it.

Varra does not act in your business systems, apart from one narrow, approved Gmail path, and nothing on this page runs unattended. The full boundary is on the Business Automation page, the state of each component is on Build status, and the Business tier, which is described rather than sold, is on the pricing page.
